Quick Smoking

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can provide a safe, natural, drug-free and effective way to quit smoking.

ARE YOU STILL TRYING TO QUITE SMOKING?

The effects of smoking on human health are serious and in many cases, deadly. There are more than 7,000 chemicals, including over 60 carcinogens that are known to cause cancer, says the American Cancer Society (ACS).

How does nicotine affect your body?

  • Nicotine reaches the brain within 10 seconds after smoke is inhaled leading to degeneration in a region of the brain that affects emotional control, sexual arousal, REM sleep and seizures.
  • Smoking affects the function of the immune system and increases the risk of respiratory and other infections.
  • Carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin in red blood cells, preventing affected cells from carrying a full load of oxygen
  • Smoking affects Heart, Liver and Kidney, causing weakened arteries and heart attack, cancer of Liver, Kidney and Bladder.
  • The effects of smoking hold additional risks for women: period pains, early menopause, cancer of cervix, infertility and delay in conception.
  • Cancer-causing agents (carcinogens) in tobacco smoke damage important genes that control the growth of cells, causing them to grow abnormally or to reproduce too rapidly.

Most experts agree that quitting smoking is the single most important thing you can do for your health. More than 25 diseases are associated with tobacco use, including cancer of the lungs, bladder, mouth, larynx, pharynx, esophagus, pancreas, kidney, uterus and cervix. Smoking also raises the chances of developing emphysema and increases the risk of having a stroke by 30 percent.

There is plenty of incentive to quit, but it isn’t necessarily easy. The good news is that acupuncture has helped millions of people to kick the smoking habit.
"One of the most effective natural and drug-free ways to quit smoking is through acupuncture" said Allison Bailey, Harvard trained MD acupuncturist to Medical Daily. "This form of therapy is very effective for treating addictions of all kinds, including for smoke cessation".

Some of the largest stumbling blocks to becoming smoke-free are the stress, anxiety and depression associated with quitting. Fortunately, acupuncture treatment is quite successful at calming and relaxing the mind, reducing anxiety and alleviating depressive feelings. Specific acupoints in the ear and wrist are used to accomplish this. Additional acupoints may be included that help suppress your appetite, stimulate repair and healing of organ systems, and reduce food and nicotine cravings.

Testimonial:

"I wanted to quit but I dreaded the anxiety quitting causes. Stress caused me to escalate from three cigarettes a day to smoke an entire pack in one evening. I didn't see any smart reason to substitute one kind of nicotine habit for another -- namely the patch. I talked to Dr. Yang and learned the process could be done quickly and easily. See the professionals who are sincerely interested in your comfort and well-being "

"Nicotine controlled my life. Now, I am captain of my own ship. I like being the captain. I am enjoying feeling better than I have since I started chewing 15 years ago. Now, my family is happy. I have my good health back, too. I recommend Dr. Yang to my dentist for any patients that are trying to break away from any form of tobacco. I am a happier man today!"
